What you're hearing is completely false. The cabs insurance will pay for all damages regardless who was driving the car.
He hit the car, so he's fully responsible for the damages. If it would've been your fault, then you would've been screwed. But your friends insurance will have nothing to do with this accident , she just needs to contact the cabs insurance and they'll advise her were to go get estimates for her car to get repaired.

  2. Like the previous poster said, you will get compensation for the damages regardless of who was on the insurance. You really don't need to go through your friend's insurance company at all if the cab driver was found at fault. Their insurance company should pay for all damages.

  3. liberty mutual will more than likely cover this claim and then require your roomate to add you on her policy as a driver since you live in the same house. if you have a policy in your own name, then you probably wont have to be added to her policy, but if you dont they will want you added since you live there and have access to the car. YOU cannot add yourself to her policy, SHE has to do that. since the other driver was at fault, she should not have to report this to her company. the taxi driver needs to file this under HIS policy.

  4. I just got in a car accident and i had no insurance or license. They fixed my whole care. If he admitted to it you don't have to trade info unless a cop shows up and he ask for it. His insurance will fix everything. Don't worry. I was pooping bricks when it happened but everything turned out ok. You don't even need a police report really. The insurance determines the final outcome

Yes file the claim and get the car fixed. I was afraid too but am glad i did! got my car fixed and put in a rental

As long as you were a permissive user, you and she are covered. If you are a regular user, your friend should contact Liberty and let them know. You might have to be listed, but often "regular use" is restricted to household members(defined as related, by blood, marriage or adoption).

Since you were not at fault for the accident, your friend should simply contact the cab's insurance company and file a claim. They will complete the investigation, arrange for an appraisal, and reimburse your friend for the damage. She is also entitled to a rental once the vehicle is in the shop being repaired.
