Gap insurance?
Posted on Mar 09, 2008 under Insurance Information |I had a car that was recently totalled, my old finance company just sent me a letter stating that my insurance had paid them 27k but i still owed them $8 thousand dollars. I had gap insurance, why haven't they paid them off or am i suppose to call and get them to take care of it. I thought gap insurance kicked in automatically once something happed.
Also after you sign for gap insurance at the dealer, is there any more to it?

the same thing happened to me. i had to call my insurance company(Progressive) and specificaly request to use my gap insurance. The claims adjuster said that gap insurance was a different department and had to be requested specialy by me. It took a couple of extra days but it all worked out. I will never have another car without gap insurance. Good luck to you.
