Is there such thing as any car any driver insurance? How do I get it?
Posted on Mar 09, 2008 under Insurance Information |I have four drivers in my family and at any time 3-4 cars. Is there an insurance policy that allows the drivers to be interchangeable?
Or is there a policy that doesnt depend on who's driving what car with just a standard rate? Ideally I'd like to nominate anyone to be able to drive any of the cars depending on the situation.
How do private car garages/dealers sort out their insurance? They have changing cars and drivers so it seems!

b.t.w. yes I know about any driver insurance, but what if drivers are 19+ and that doesnt slve the any car problem, anyone with a complete option?

With a handful of cars and drivers, most insurance companies assume that any driver in the household has access to and could drive any of the vehicles listed on the policy. If there is a specific person who should not drive a specific car, the insurance company can "exclude" that person from that car. Let's say you have two sedans, a truck, and a Viper, two adults, a college student, and a teenager. You're going to want to exclude the teenager and possibly the college student from driving the Viper to reduce the insurance cost.
As far as dealers go, they typically have a policy that states all listed drivers and any vehicles are covered. As a valet attendant, I was added to a "non-owned" vehicle policy by the hotel. As a car salesman, I was added to a policy covering all "owned and non-owned vehicles".
