How much does a visit to the ER Cost w/o insurance?
Posted on Mar 13, 2008 under Insurance Information |I recently got rushed to the hospital after passing out and suffering a mild concussion. I have no health insurance. I was in the ER for 4 hours, had a CT scan(which i told i didnt want), and was brought in by an ambulance. Any idea of how much this will put me in debt?

An ambulance transport is about $500-800 dollars for non-emergent. A cat scan runs about $1000-2000. And your emergency room visit can be from a couple hundred to a couple thousand depending on the level of care you needed. As for no insurnace call the billing department and ask if they have a financial assistance program. Hospitals have to take so many pro-bono cases a year. It's just some paperwork asking you about your taxes from last year and such.

Normally, about $500.00 for the ER of 4 hrs. $300 for the blood work they might have done. A CAT SCAN is expensive. though.approximately &1500.00 There 's also the cause for the ambulance approximately $1000.00 as head injury is considered an emergency. If the sirens were on, it cost more than without sirens. So you're looking around $3300.00 - $4500.00.in toto.
They might give you a mean sliding scale as to what you can afford. Go the business office and fill out forms for financial disclosure.
