During my "sick-days", my ex-employer had terminated my health insurance. Any help?

Posted on Mar 14, 2008 under Insurance Information |

I was off from work due to a sickness.
My ex-employer terminated my health insurance from the day I informed him of my sickness to the present date without any verbal & documented contact towards me.
I had gone to the hospital without any knowledge of this situation and I underwent surgery.
Today, I received a bill instating the payment from the hospital and it is today that I discover that my ex-employer had terminated the insurance. Are there any labor laws that can protect me?

  1. Contact the Board of Labor.

Don't know what state your in, but I don't think it matters. Your employer can't do that.
By the way, are you contributing to your insurance? Did they deduct payments from your check? You have all the proof you need right there.

  3. I'm sure you won't have any trouble finding a bulldog lawyer to take your case.

In the US there is the COBRA law
