What is the best way to get health insurance while laid off from work for over a month?
Posted on Mar 27, 2008 under Insurance Information |My brother got laid off from his job, and it looks as though it may be for a little while, my sister in law works part time and they have two children, is there anything out there that helps families in this situation. This is a good job, so he doesnt want to quit and find a new one, he just my be off awhile due to a strike somewhere else that the plant where he works makes parts for. thank you

Most insurances have what is called cobra coverage, they will continue to cover all medical bills for a few month (depends on the coverage), have him read his policy if one was provided to him or he can call the insurance company's costumer service line to find out.

You can also go to your local social service office and see what kind of help they could offer you.
