I'm 24 and inbetween jobs. Which company is best?

  1. If you're between jobs you'll need a Short Term Medical (STM) policy. The insurance companies will not issue a permanent policy to unemployed people because they know there is a good chance that you'll soon get a job with benefits. It can take the insurance company 6 months or more to recoup the cost of issuing a permanent policy.

    STM policies do not have all the bells and whistles of a permanent policy and generally don't cover the little things like doctor visits and prescriptions but they will cover catastrophic costs. Since the policies available are determined by where you live you'll need to visit a local independent agent to find the best policy in your area.
