Does insurance cover express care clinics?
Posted on Apr 24, 2008 under Insurance Information |My throat is sore… not really my throat but my tonsil.. its swollen… its taking up almost my whole throat. It makes it hard to swallow, even saliva. I get this atleast once a year.. and I have white on my throat and stuff but everytime I go in they always test me for strep and it comes out negitive. I give up.. I just want to get to the docotor and get some meds and be on my way! I just wanna know if I can go to an express care clinic!

yes, you can call your insurance provider and as them who you can go to.

You can go and pay out of pocket. That should be less than $50. Many, but not all, insurance policies pay for that.
But you should be careful asking for meds when you don't need them. If you simply have a virus, taking anti-biotics not only won't help you, but could make it worse for you next time you get a bacterial infection. If the bacteria has become immune to the drugs because you took them when you shouldn't have last time, it could kill you.
