Insurance companies are like candy stores.. you can usually get one that gives you exactly what you want if you shop around.. Get on the phone and ask the people who do the "alternative procedures" you are wondering about, and ask them which insurance companies cover what they do.. ? If no one does, (perhaps you're speaking of acupuncture for example?) call your insurance company and ask if they will sell you an addtional "flyer" or extra policy to cover it. If not, then the answer is that insurance companies are there to make money and not to help you personally get better. Then call your local TV station, and have the health reporter do a story on this, and it may get you the help you need once the insurance company is shown to be uncaring.

  2. Because "alternative" treatments are, by definition, unproven therapies performed (more often than not) by unlicensed and/or unqualifed practitioners.

because most alternative is pure crackery. some works, but most is a scam to milk you of your last dollar and laugh as they throw dirt on your coffin.
