Doesn't Japan have a national healthcare system? Of course that may only be available to citizens.

if u would work in japan, the company that you would be working for would give u an insurance or if u live here for more than six months and u have an alien registration card,u can have a medical insurance covered by the municipal government where u live.

Just to add to wondering's answer…the Japanese health care system is very good. If you live and work there, you are required to join the national health insurance system. They have good, pretty comprehensive coverage, so you shouldn't need to worry about supplementary insurance, either.
