help with insurance.?
Posted on May 29, 2008 under Insurance Information |I have a feeling that my mom left more than one insurance policy. If she did, they are with a cousin, who i know wouldn't turn them over. Is there any way I could find out without the cousin knowing?? If she finds out, she'd get real bitc*y…thanks!

If your mom didnt leave a will then it'll be difficult. If you were not named in the policy then theres no reason why your mother would have let you know about it.

Sorry for your loss.
Insurance companies can only make payment to the beneficiary or beneficiaries listed on the policy, no matter who submits the claim. So if anyone else has any policies, they can't claim the benefits if you are listed as beneficiary. However, if the company never receives notice that the policy-holder has died, and payments stop, the policy will lapse and the money will be lost. So it may be best to just ask about the policies to make sure that doesn't happen.
