I like Progressive. Check out their website. Its the only one with quotes from other car insurance companies. The rates are almost always good, the customer service is great, the process to get insured is intuitive and fast.
I have saw a site today with several online companies you might check out. It's http://persiankittens.net/autoinsdir.htm
(I know it's a strange address for insurance but it's a good place to check out insurance.)
It depends on a lot of factors like what kind of car you have, your driving record, your age, what kind of coverage you are looking for, and where you live. I have Safe Auto and have had them for years. My sister had them and when she got into an accident, they refused to pay even though she had full coverage. They are very cheap but that doesn't mean they are better. The only reason I am still with them is because since I have been a customer for so long, my insurance is way less than anyone else can offer me. Also, I have PLPD so it is cheap. Try calling around and getting quotes. It is free and easy to get a quote from differant companies and it will save you money in the long run.
I have had many different insurance companies in my lifetime of driving. Many claims too. I have used Allstate for about 15 years now, they are good to work with and pay out on their claims quickly and easily. I know they aren't the cheapest, but they are good. There are many ins co.'s out there, try geico, they are always advertising on TV and some people where I live use them, but they are very strict for paying out. Good Luck
