  1. deedlebay Says:

You first need to get your property and casualty insurance license.

  2. Let me add to the statement about needing a property and casualty licence.

First off, when I took the test it was quite boring to study for and costly. From what I recall a few grand to take. The best method for you might be to contact a prospective company that you might want to work for and find out if they will pay your way.

Secondly, note, you should be prepared to take other tests too. You might need to take a securities test (for selling stocks and mutual funds and the like) in order to work for many insurance companies.

  3. Most auto insurance agents also sell homeowners, life and financial products. You will want to get several licenses:
    Property/Casualty
    Life/Health
    Series 6/63 or Series 7

Many insurance companies do offer a training program. To find a local insurance company - http://www.findlocalinsurance.com
