I can afford to pay for my medical insurance, but my deductable is so high I can't ever afford to go to the doctor. I have to pay $1000 out of pocket before my heath insurance will cover anything. That's like 3 visits to the doctor before the insurance kicks in any money.

That would be the majority of hourly paid workers. Some corporations provide medical insurance that is affordable but very few. Sadly the insurance companys if today don"t pay very good either.

Luckily, my employer pays half of my insurance, so it isn't too bad. However, if my employer did not offer insurance, I cannot afford my own policy.

you can pay on your own outside of the company. but given the fact that ur company does not want to provide medical insurance means they dont really care about their employees welfare. that should give you an idea or two about the people you work for. As for solutions? find another job. MOST companies have medical insurance y'know.

I am a Verteran. I have Medical Insurance.
I do not know why more people don't join the service ~~_~~ I served 4 years and have free medical insurance for the rest of my life! Which, I may add includes family members!

Depending what type of medical insurance plans your state has… they could help you.
But like in my case… at any point they could take it away from you and you'd have to go through the long process of trying to get it again. Arizona is a bad state for Medical Insurance because if you're just a little bit over the limit for AHCCCS… they won't give it to you. And like for an example, if you have a car accident and you get hurt… it's your problem and you have to pay for it out of your own money.
In my opinion… anybody that is working should have medical insurance because people that don't… fall through the cracks and don't get seen properly.
Whether doctor's want to believe it or not… they care about making that money… and if a patient doesn't have insurance… sometimes they won't even see them or they'll be charged an arm and a leg!
But like I said… try find out what your state has for people who work and can't afford medical insurance. Go to the health department and ask around.

If you factor the cost of health insurance into a person's salary, you begin to realize that those of you without health insurance are grossly underpaid. Once you get that through your mindset, you will be compelled to find a better job - one that does include health insurance.
Make that search your primary goal, and don't let anything get in your way. In the meantime, do everything you can to stay healthy. Obsessively wash your hands, look for free or reduced-cost flu-shots, get exercise and fresh air, don't smoke, don't do drugs, and keep alcohol to a minimum.
And when all else fails, next time you need to see a doctor, just walk into your local emergency room and tell them you are an illegal immigrant who can't afford health care. Apparently they are the only people in this country who do not have to worry about whether they have health insurance.

Not socialized medicine. This is communism to think if you do not have it than it is OK to take it away from some one else.
It failed and is failing every where that has it and they all come to the USA to get good care.
Any body that can not afford it needs to work more hours and or cut their life styles so they can.

Well I don’t know I think you have to manage how you determine if it is true, manage how you feel, and make a good decision.
