What do you mean by the right kind?
I would say that an ideal email marketing strategy would be to be an ad placement on an email newsletter that goes out to new parents.

For existing clients, it's always good to send them a quarterly newsletter about a variety of news, strategies, etc.
If you mean getting new clients. Go do seminars or have a booth at a tradeshow/expo to acquire people's emails. (with permission to email them of course!) I recently was at a baby expo and walked away with over 200 names to mail, email and call. And I know to send them things specifically about baby/college ed, etc. Personally if you do email or mail…. don't expect a response right away. You also need to call to follow up.

I'm a little unsure about the question.
